Some bunny done it
Today I am sitting in my living room, surrounded by the pieces that I made in the last few weeks. I have much more to do to finish them and a notebook full of ideas. My notebooks and sketchbooks are the memory that I wish that I had. Words and pictures that I can never seem to remember when I want to. Small pads of paper like these are what I pick up on my way to the checkout counter. Some people will grab a pack of gum or mints before they finalize their purchases. I grab the little notebooks. These are just the ones that I keep in my purse.
With all the projects that I have going on currently, these little notebooks help me keep return to my original ideas. All my ideas change over time. I usually write down a basic idea like “terrarium”. That is usually enough for me. So this week I went out searching for clear plastic eggs. Being that Easter is near I thought that I would have no problem finding what I was looking for, but to no avail. So I went searching for the next best thing. I wasn’t sure what my alternative would be. I am never sure until I see it.
While wandering the aisles of Archie Mcphee’s I found what I was looking for. I often forget that I can find odds and ends for projects there. I have been going there for years. Back when I was a kid my father would bring me here. It was my favorite toy store. I could leave with a bag full of trinkets (the kind that you would get at the bottom of a cereal box) for a few just a dollars. It is like a scavenger hunt but when I find what I am looking for I can feel the blood rushing to my head, my ears heat up and my heartbeat speeds up in excitement. I love that feeling.
